The Mamas and The Papas were one of the biggest bands of the 1960s. Cass Elliot, better known as Mama Cass, passed away in 1974 at just 32 years old. Two years before her passing, she shared a special moment on stage with John Denver.
On the Burt Sugarman’s Midnight Special, the music legends came together for one heartwarming performance. While it’s not the last time either of them performed in their careers, it still brings shivers watching them sing.
The dynamic duo’s voices melded perfectly together. They chose to sing Denver’s hit song, “Leaving on a Jet Plane.” There was a wholesome bond between the two that made it evident that they were great friends.
It’s rare to hear such flawless harmonies between two voices during a live performance. We’re glad this moment was caught on film to last the span of time. We miss both of these iconic singers, and can’t help but turn up the volume whenever hearing their hit songs to this day.
