Nostalgic Buddy Holly video takes you back to the best days of your life

One of the most memorable music videos of the 90s was Weezer’s ‘Buddy Holly.’ The band captured the spirit of the hit sitcom ‘Happy Days’ with their retro-style performance now remastered in HD.

Through the magic of technology, the original actor who played Al on ‘Happy Days’ announces to the crowd in the restaurant, “Ok, kids. Arnold’s is proud to present Kenosha, Wisconsin’s own Weezer!”

Before he leaves, Al quips, “Please try the fish!” The 50s audience claps and laughs as they sit on the floor for Weezer’s performance. The band dresses in matching yellow sweaters as they play the tune inside the ‘Happy Days’ set.

The crowd starts to dance as the song plays, and even cast members Al, Potsie, and Richie Cunningham look on from the booths. The band bops around on stage with fabulous 50s haircuts.

Later in the song, the video shows old footage of ‘The Fonz’ dancing wildly at Arnold’s. Actor Henry Winkler brought the iconic character to life, and this dance is one of his most famous scenes.

The band finishes rocking the crowd, and Al congratulates them, saying, “Good Work. Did anyone try the fish tonight?” Weezer’s bass player responds, “It’s not so good, Al.” Al mocks his tone to close the video with a laugh.

‘Buddy Holly’ was the second single from Weezer’s debut album ‘The Blue Album.’ It was released on September 7th, 1994, which marked Buddy Holly’s 58th birthday. The song is considered one of the best rock songs of the 90s.
