Arthur Gunn has undoubtedly come a long way from his hometown near the famous Mount Everest. The twenty-two-year-old Wichita, Kansas musician, decided to perform “Hard to Handle” by Otis Redding for his Hollyweed Week performance on American Idol. After a brief introduction, the soulful star begins to sing with such power that it’s hard to not be taken aback by his distinct tone.
The conclusion of a brilliant performance brought cheers and roaring applause, as well as Katy Perry and the judges crying out for more. Standing in encouragement, Luke Bryan started him off back into song. With the same purity and emotion but a little special something extra, the talented artist blew onlookers away with an even greater showing of talent than before.
With a spirit that reminded Lionel Richie of Bob Marley and a voice that’s truly-one-of-a-kind, Arthur Gunn delivered what has to be a highly successful performance for his first showing on American Idol’s Hollywood week. Once you’ve heard Otis Redding “Hard to Handle” performed by this humble star, you’ll swear the song was written for him.
