Taco Takes A Track From 1927 And Sets It On Fire In This ’82 Classic

Taco is odd, and this video is even stranger, but you’re sure to be entranced by the Dutch musician’s rendition of “Puttin’ On The Ritz.”

One of the strangest songs of its century has to be Dutch DJ Taco’s 1982 version of “Puttin’ On The Ritz.” The song was first written by Irving Berlin in 1927, but this version is most definitely a far way away from what he envisioned.

Taco Ockerse is the real name of the person responsible for this sensational song from the eighties. It’s the most well-known version of the song by far, and a video which many may remember from MTV.

Thanks to Taco, 95-year-old Irving Berlin became the oldest songwriter to ever list in the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100.
