Jamaican Subway Singer Astounds While Mom Dances & Prays

Eighteen-year-old Jamaican singer Jahzan arrived with her biggest fan ready to audition. The subway singer and her mom stood on the mark, with Jahzan belting out a powerful, creative rendition of Clean Bandit’s “Rockabye.” As the eager contestant gave it her all, her mother danced beside her enthusiastically. Yet, this wasn’t the only surprise these two had planned, for, after a quick costume involving boots and a sarong, the teen started singing Demi Lovato’s “Warrior.”

At the end of a moving audition, Lionel Richie ran out to pass the emotional singer a tissue Katy Perry said, “It’s okay, we’re here to help you out! You did great. To me, you sound like a combination of Toni Braxton, Cher, and Shakira.” Although impressed, she did want Jahzan to dial things down. Luke found her voice unique, and Lionel loved her. With three ‘Yeses’ and the help of her move praying non-stop throughout, the singer was off to Hollywood.

Jahzan and her mother fled for safety reasons when she was but fifteen years old. The eager artist delivered not one, but two audition songs for her attempt at joining season eighteen of American Idol. With her mother dancing and praying beside her, the artist impressed with both Clean Bandit’s “Rockabye” and Demi Lovato’s “Warrior.”
