“The Voice” coach Blake Shelton and Ian Flanigan take on Willie and Waylon

Old dirt roads and pickup trucks quickly come to mind when you hear Ian sing a Waylon and Willie classic country tune.

Ian Flanigan, a contestant on “The View,” got to sing a classic outlaw country tune in a rousing duet with his team coach, Blake Shelton.

They sang “Mama, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys,” by Ed and Patsy Bruce to a virtual audience and the show’s judges.

The Grammy-winning song was a hit for Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. Ian sang Waylon Jennings’s part and played the guitar as he sang.

The judges watched the duet live, but the audience was watching remotely. The enthusiastic applause kept the energy up in the studio during the performance.

Other performers included diverse artists such as Jason Derulo, Lauren Daigle, and Dan+Shay. Several collaborations made the two-hour show a highlight of this year’s competition.
