“Joy And Pain” Reminds Just How Good Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock Were

It Takes Two was made up of Rob Base and the late DJ E-Z Rock. The epic duo dropped one of the greatest hip hop singles ever seen when they released “Joy And Pain” in 1988.

New York hip hop duo Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock took hip hop audiences by storm when they released the platinum-selling classic “Joy And Pain” in ’88.

This track is, without a doubt, one of the most popular one-hit-wonders hip hop has ever seen. Robert Ginyard, Rob Base, and Rodney “Skip” Bryce on the turntable did a fantastic job of creating a sound that’d live forever.

The Harlem duo did themselves proud with this timeless hit. It features samples from 1978’s “Spacedust” and James Brown’s 1972 ever-popular song “Think (About It).”
