Audience Goes Wild for Upbeat 1960s Beach Song on American Bandstand

Going to the beach, a local pool or playing in a sprinkler in your backyard are perfect ways to cool off during a blistering summer day. Many people love to play music as they bask in the sunshine, and this 1960s hit is ideal for the occasion.

There’s no denying that wearing a swimsuit can make you feel self-conscious. Nobody has the bodies that we see on tv, in movies, or magazines. Women have often felt afraid to wear bikini’s, especially before the 1960s.

Brian Hyland gave women a boost of confidence with his hit song “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini.” The catchy upbeat song quickly rose to the top spot on the charts, and the younger generation loved it.

A clip from a 1960s episode American Bandstand showcases the energetic song played live. It’s just as good as it is on the record. Hearing this tune brings back a floor of memories and makes me want to hit the beach.
