Musical Satire? “I Know What Boys Like” From The Waitresses Is So Clever

“I Know What Boys Like” is the most annoying song that you’ll ever hear, and that’s just the way that it is supposed to be, and just the way that we like it. It drones on addictively, poking fun all the way.

Patty Donahue’s signature monotone voice is instantly recognizable, suiting the satirical song “I Know What Boys Like” from The Waitresses perfectly. It’s an early eighties classic that sealed the Ohio band’s place in history forever.

With its quintessential minimalistic tone and distinctive eighties sound, “I Know What Boys Like” arrived in 1982 and went on to become one of the greatest one-hit wonders known.

Despite being the biggest hit that The Waitresses would ever see, the song was originally written by Ohio band Tin Hey’s Chris Butler, but his bandmates didn’t like it feeling that it wasn’t at there standards.
