Road Paver & Strikingly Soulful Singer Doesn’t Realize His Own Talent

Eighteen-year-old Zack Dobbins comes from the small town of Clay in Clay County, West Virginia, where he works paving roads. Riding a wonky trunk covered in mud, the down to earth singer follows his own way listening to the advice of his father. The eager singer-songwriter-guitarist didn’t quite know what American Idol was all about, but he was eager to make a name for himself and earn a better life through stardom. For his big moment, the teen opted for an original song entitled “Miss Use.”

Luke Bryan immediately noticed that the young man’s guitar was out of tune, running forward to make a final adjustment. The sound warmed up remarkably, with the artist taken aback by the gesture. As if fueled by the act of kindness, Zack began singing from the depths of his soul rewarding with a raspy voice that sounded like the perfect blend of country and rock ‘n roll. “I don’t think you know what you’re doing. I don’t think that you need to know what you’re doing. You’ve got a sound, you’re so authentic.” explained Katy Perry after a brilliant audition. Three ‘Yeses’ meant this singer who knows nothing about singing was going straight to Hollywood.

It’s almost unbelievable to think that there is nothing driving Zack Dobbins other than his love to sing. The teen knows nothing about music or the music industry, but he was brave enough to step forward in an attempt to make a change to his life. What is the young artist excited about? Stepping on a plane for the very first time. Wow, Zack. You are amazing.
