Zero Chairs for Bubbly Long Island Cellist

One of the weirdest parts of this audition was a happening of happenstance. Just before the thirty-year-old Long Island Cellist arrived for her audition, Nick Jonas could be seen singing Corinne Bailey Rae’s “Put Your Records on.” Just a little while later, Clerida arrives for a stripped-down performance of the very same song for her audition. With an infectious personality, a wonderfully warm stage presence, and a unique audition, the Cellist tried her best.

Although pleasing, her vocal performance just didn’t get there for the coaches. Despite the audience enjoying the sound of her song, there were no chair turns. Nick Jonas said it best, encouraging Clerida with “I thought that was such a unique performance style. You turn around, and you’re so light. Your smile lit up this room, and the voice was phenomenal. I just think it wasn’t quite there today for me to turn a chair.”

New Yorker Clerida gave a moving audition showcasing her originality and ability to grab and hold the attention of a room. Her stripped-down rendition of “Put Your Records On” by Corinne Bailey Rae presented a unique take on a classic track and genre. Between her refreshing approach and bright personality, the Cellist is indeed talented.
