Margie 2.0 Proves A Returning Music Teacher Can Improve

Energetic Margie Mays returns to The Voice to try her vocal talent yet again. The aspiring pop star hailing from Delaware is no stranger to the stage, but just couldn’t make it past Hollywood Week despite a brilliant performance of Sam Smith’s “Lay Me Down.” For her season eighteen audition, Margie brought with her the support and pianist ability of the love of her life, Jonny West. Having worked on her craft and professionalism, Margie decided to sing Adele’s “I Found A Boy.”

What a fitting song selection for the partnership seen at her touching audition. With a remarkable range, impeccable control, and emotion felt throughout, Margie Mays did indeed improve her voice. “Well, pretty much every time you sang for us last year you hit bad notes. You didn’t hit one bad note now,” commented Luke Bryan. Lionel Richie liked the personal improvements she made, overcoming her nerves. Katy Perry didn’t like the song choice and didn’t feel like it was her best making her choice a no. Even though Luke agreed, he gave her another shot tallying two ‘Yes’s’ with Richie’s vote of confidence.

High-energy music teacher Margie Mays has always been a likeable personality, but for this audition, she’s arrived a whole new person with the same infectious spirit. Her season eighteen audition presented a flawless rendition of “I Found A Boy”, but the judges are all calling for more than a good voice and prime technical ability. With the love of her life at her side, she’s higher-spirited than ever, especially after the result.
